Plane Rehab Projects
Orphan planes arrive on my doorstep constantly. Each needs special attention and care so that they can be put back into useful service. Here are some of my latest projects.

Stanley Bedrock #608C

This plane arrived greasy and dirty. Touching it left my fingers black. The good new is that the grease protected the plane from rust. It had a broken tote, a bent lateral, and it seems that a mud dauber made his nest behind the frog. This plane was a challenge and it took awhile to get it broken down for cleaning.
A little scrubbing with Dawn liquid soap made this puppy shine. Cleaned up well. There were two patent dates under the gunk.

Next stop was to grind the nicks out of the blade and then sharpen it. Look at those curly shavings!

Record #81 Plane Rehab

This sad little plane arrived without any blades at all. Here is a picture with one of his earlier cousins.
He needed two cutters to be happy.

I found two in stock that were originally made for Stanley #98 and #99. They were a tad wide, so I ground them to fit. They were thicker than the originals, so I had to grind the bottom one so his brother would fit.

Then I sharpened both blades and took it for a test drive.

Looks like one more rabbet plane is ready to go back to work.
